Haley was born 10/22/2004. She was too much dog for the family which owned her, so she ended up in rescue. She’s gone through many different foster homes, and now is being professionally trained for sheepherding! Haley thoroughly enjoys herding, but will do well in a home where she has some sort of job. She is a bright girl, and like many border collies, would likely get bored without a job and guidance to keep her active mind busy.
Meet Charlie

Charlie was found as a stray and taken to the shelter. This is where he stayed, waiting for his owner to reclaim him. His owner never came, even after being notified. Charlie’s time was running short, so we were contacted to help.
Charlie’s long stay at the shelter, on the hard concrete floor, contributed to the development of a hygroma (a fluid filled sac cushioning a joint) on his elbow. He had a terrible case of fleas, flea allergy dermatitis and seborrhea. His teeth are worn from years of chewing on himself in an attempt to relieve his itching.
Charlie’s hygroma has been drained, and is resolved now that he has cushioned beds to lie on. Once we were able to help him gain about 10 pounds, as he was severely thin, he was able to undergo surgery to remove a growth (benign) as well as a couple cysts and even a BB from his leg! While he was having his surgery, his ears were examined, and foxtails were found and removed from both ears. His teeth were examined and cleaned, and were deemed to be healthy enough to keep.
Charlie’s health and condition have improved immensely since he’s been with us. His seborrhea is under control. His medium length black and white coat has filled in nicely and is much more lustrous. Charlie has already been neutered, is housebroken and enjoys nice, relaxed leash walks. Charlie is a wonderfully sweet boy, very well-behaved and would be a wonderful addition to a home looking for a purebred border collie who won’t be bouncing off the walls with endless energy. Charlie is approximately 10-12 years old and will make a great friend for someone willing to treat him with the kindness and respect that he deserves. Even after all of those years of neglect, Charlie still loves people and enjoys love and attention.
Update 4/11/2004: Charlie is doing very well, despite his arthritis. We are supplementing his diet with glucosamine plus MSM to help ease his arthritis stiffness, but he is enjoying his daily outings immensely!
Update 11/26/2004: Charlie is now taking prednisone for seasonal allergies. He has a hot spot on his face which is being treated with Betagen spray. We hope to wean him off the prednisone once his allergic response has subsided. He will be scheduled to have another teeth cleaning shortly.
Update 9/5/2005: Charlie is still with us and doing well. He had one canine tooth removed at his latest teeth cleaning, but he’s still got a wonderful smile! We have to watch for those pesky allergies which cause hot spots, however he doesn’t need daily medication.

Gryffin was probably born around Jan 2005. He was found as a stray, and impounded at the shelter for greater than 3 weeks. After we rescued him, he became seriously ill with a respiratory infection. In addition, he was seriously malnourished and thin. He required forced feeding, antibiotics, subcutaneous fluids, and even nebulization before he finally decided that he wanted to live.
When he came to us, Gryffin was VERY shy. He would hide in his crate, and not want to come out. Gradually, once he decided life was worth living, he came out of his shell. He started playing with toys and bones, enjoying petting (especially from the ladies!), and is excited when his caregivers wake up in the morning, come home in the evening, or even just walk into the room!
